Hello all. This is simply a site which displays my thoughts, projects, and so forth. I hope that you find them interesting. Feel free to contact me at [email protected] as well.

For the Visually Inclined

Presetned here are just some pictures I have taken. Currently the only images are from my recent trip to Washington D. C.: pictures of the Panda Mei Xiang and her cub Tai Shan and a couple of pictures of Kenneth Snelson's picture at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden and some commentary on it (Mei Xiang and Tai Shan speak for themselves).

Milwaukee Monorail Project

The Milwaukee Monorail proposal was an ambitious undertook I started a few years ago. Inspired by the citizen-lead proposal for a monorail in Seattle, I decided to initiate a similar one for Milwaukee. I have now abandoned the project (I let the old domain name, milwaukeemonorail.info, expire), but I saved the files of the project onto my computer. My primary reason for stopping the project was that the Seattle monorail project is not going as well as was hoped--transit planning, I now realize, is not something that should be done by amateurs! Also, the more I read about transportation and urban planning the more I realized the complexity of the problem and that the monorail "magic bullet" would not solve everything in Milwaukee as I had thought it would, and also that the guided buses would be okay. Furthermore, no one was interested in the project (indeed, the same fate seems to have befell the guided bus proposal). Still, I found the project a very great learning experience, and I feel that I better understand the dynamics of cities, transportation, and technology after undertaking it.
